Welcome back Kean Students!

Hi there!

Craig Anderson here, welcoming you all back for another semester at Kean University.  This is the official Kean University Library ‘blog.  Here you will find out about the exciting news and events going on at the library, as well as fun facts and tidbits.

If you have yet to visit the library in realspace, please take a few minutes to stop by and have a look around.  The most important thing to do when you visit the library is to get a library barcode sticker on the back of your student I.D.  This handy little item will allow you to check out books, as well as to access the library’s full-text databases from home. It looks like this:

While you’re here, let me take a minute to tell you about all of the other exciting ways that you can access the library through our new Library 2.0 features.  The Kean University Library currently has a presence on the two biggest social networking sites; MySpace and Facebook.  You can also contact us through many instant messaging services such as AIM, Yahoo! IM, GoogleTalk, and MSN IM.  Our username is “Keanlibrarian” through most of these, except for ICQ, where we are: 440809961.  The Kean University Library also has a presence in the virtual environment known as Second Life.  Second Life is a 3D user-created environment similar to the popular multi-player games such as World of Warcraft and City of Heroes.  If you are a member of Second Life, you can visit the library HERE, on Cybrary City in the Info Archipelago. I hope to see you there! Lastly, if you are a member of Twitter, you can find me there by adding LibraryGuy to your “follow” list.

Again, it’s great seeing you all back on campus.  If there’s anything that we can do to make your Kean experience more rewarding and/or enriching, please let us know.  See you in the library! 😀
